India Gets its first Intimate Fashion Week with IIFW

A concept that seemed perilous in Indian fashion industry until now, found reality with the first edition of India Intimate Fashion Week held at hotel Leela in Mumbai on 18th March. One of the most talked about fashion show of the year, IIFW added a few more degree of hotness in Mumbai summer. India’s leading Lingerie and Resort wear designers like Nidhi Munnim, Karishma Jumani, Keith Jackson and Rajiv Mehta and jewelry designer Mona Shroff showcased their collection in the event filled with glitz and glamor.

Niraj Jawanjal, Founder and Director of IIFW said, “I am extremely glad with the success of India Intimate Fashion Week, which seemed an impossible task when the idea of doing a fashion week dedicated to lingerie and intimate wear came into my mind. We have got overwhelming response from the industry and now looks like India is really ready to Boo The Taboo”, on the success its first edition.

IIFW got off the ground with Keith Jackson – a Sanghai based fashion designer of Indian origin. He showcased intimate wear and cocktail gowns under his brand ‘La Joli’. Phapha Cara Ge Gachui, Miss Manipur 2016, was the showstopper for his amazing collection. ‘La Intimo’, another famous brand specializing in intimate wear, showcased elegant and sensuous undergarments for both men and women.

One of the main attractions of the event was internationally acclaimed jewelry designer Mona Shroff. She showcased her exquisite collection of jewelry with stunning models walking down the ramp, along with celebrated fashion designer Rajiv Mehta’s clothing line and dancing on the tunes of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa winner Sandeep Batra. Bollywood and South Indian movie actress Meenakshi Dixit rocked the ramp as the showstopper.

Next was Karishma Jumani showcased her intimate resort wear collection ‘Fairytale Floral’ under her label ‘La Lencería’. The collection showed a charming blend of fresh flora in the intimate wear, resonating freshness all the way through.

“It was great opportunity that knocked our door and opened our windows to some great success and an amazing platform to be on, I enjoyed my association with IIFW and looking forward to many more shows in the future”, she said.

Triumph, the leading name in women lingerie in India, showcased their collection of high-end, comfortable and fashionable women intimate wear, along with their Body Make-up Lace Collection, Magic wire collection and Beauty-full collection.

On the grand finale of IIFW well-known designer Nidhi Munim showcased her swimwear, resortwear and sportswear collection. Indian model and beauty pageants winner Sushrii Shreya Mishraa opened her show and Bollywood actress and model Dipannita Sharma was her showstopper.
